The AdMob reports of the last month has a made a distant comparison between the smartphones and the web application usage.
According to the statistics, the handsets of Symbian topped all the Smartphones with 52% of market share and stood second in the usage of the mobile web and app with 36% of market share. The selling of handsets of RIM followed with the market share of 17% but the usage of mobile web and app recorded was only 9%. However, the most shocking results were from Android and iPhone, only 1% of Android was sold but in the highest usage of mobile web, it stood second with 3% of usage. Similarly, the percent of iPhone handsets sold were only 8% but it had 43% of market share in regards to the mobile web and app usage. This clearly shows that iPhone and Android aced in the usage of internet in spite of less sale of their handsets.
iPhone also happened to be the leading in the top most mobile phone manufacturer in US with 34.7% requests. This was followed by Samsung with 18.6 % and Motorola stood third with 14.9%, whereas RIM, L.G. and Kyocera had nearly 5% requests. AT&T wireless is the most popular in US for iPhones and Metro PCS, Sprint PCS USA were popular network for Samsung mobiles in USA.
In India and Indonesia, Nokia bagged the top most position as mobile manufacturers with 63.1% and 65% request and Tata indicom as no.1 operator with nearly 75% for Nokia phones in India, whereas Telkomsel Indonesia in Indoesia. Airtel, Idea, and BSNL were nearly the same with approximately 70% and it was the widely used on the Nokia phones. Sony Ericson was the second most requested mobile phone in both the countries. In India the request for Sony Ericson was 11.3% and in Indonesia it was 25.1%. Airtel was the preferred operator for it in India whereas Natrindo Indonesia was the preferred operator in Indonesia.
In UK the widely requested mobile phones were of Apple with 47.1 % and the most popular operator for it was O2UK with 45%. Nokia assumed overall popularity in Philippines and South Africa as well with 69% and 37% respectively. Globe Telecom Philippines and Smart Communications Philippines both operators bagged the same position at nearly 80%.
Hence from the above mentioned details of statistics enables us to get a clear picture of the popularity of the Nokia phones in Asia and the Apple phones in the US and UK. It can also be concluded that the mobile web surfing is gaining popularity day by day as there is an increase in the usage of iPhone, BlackBerry and Android.
