The advent of the internet has left the virtual world hardly an illusion. It is a world that is real and full of potentialities to grow in every aspect whether it is socializing, entertainment, or doing serious business.Business activities can be done very smoothly and conveniently on the internet with E-commerce websites.

E-commerce is a subset of the E-business which enables the seller and the buyer to come in direct contact through the website. E-commerce has multiple models and it is necessary to know about them if you wish to get started with one. A company providing web design and development services generally avails you with complete E-commerce solutions.

One of the most common kinds of E-commerce that we are familiar with is Business to Consumer (B2C). This is the basic model that involves the businesses with the customers. Under this model the seller puts up his products or services on their websites for display and the customer makes the purchase according to his/her choice. Business to Business (B2B) is also another popular model of E-commerce which involves the producers and the retailers. In this model, the consumers are not individuals but small or medium sized businessmen or companies. For instance, the retailer purchases Dell computers from the Dell Company. Hence it is a transaction between manufacturer and a wholesaler or a retailer.

One of the less known though popular kind of E-commerce is Consumer to Consumer (C2C). Here the purchaser buys products and sells product through a common platform such as eBay. This too is one form of E-commerce. Since the seller is a consumer of the services of the sites like eBay, he is also considered as a consumer in this transaction.

Now-a-days, m-commerce has also become popular as the usage of the mobile devices has increased for conducting business. Websites are now specially designed for the mobile phones and even their optimization is done so that it can provide with good business. E-commerce is becoming very important part of offshore outsourcing industry.

The reason behind the popularity of E-commerce and its so many types is because it is has wide exposure and provides with business flexibility. Ecommerce accepts several modes of payments and therefore, it is more convenient. You can make easy payments through PayPal, Google checkout and many others.

The world of internet has opened doors to the revolutionary way of doing business and shopping. The network of the World Wide Web allows the website viewers to even purchase online. This is done majorly through shopping carts facilities that are available on the Ecommerce websites. Shopping cart is software that enables the site owner to organize the buying and the selling activities on the web. Shopping carts not only displays the physical products of the businessmen on the site, but it also gives easy navigation and detailed information to the buyers.

In addition, shopping cart also handles the shipping activities, data calculation, taxes and credit card details. Hence, shopping cart development must be done carefully.

Since there are many companies providing the facility of online portal development, it has become necessary to provide with our own precise details of requirements. An ideal shopping cart should have following features:-

  1. A shopping cart should generate dynamic forms. It should be able to execute codes accurately.
  2. A well developed shopping cart must also calculate the shipping and taxes on the shopping done by the user.
  3. It is must for the shopping cart program to have a secured credit card transaction. It should keep the private details of the user intact securely.
  4. Provide the user with options. You can consider the option of providing the user with a search box wherein they can type the name of the product they are looking for.

However, while including these features in the shopping cart it is also necessary to avoid certain pitfalls that can prove hazardous to your online business. Here are the five horrendous mistakes to avoid while developing a shopping cart.

  1. Avoid usage of the word ‘Buy’ on the button- this is important as the word buy may intimidate the user. The user might get frightened with the buy button if he/she is simply surfing and do not wish to actually buy them. Therefore, uses the words add to the cart instead of buy.
  2. Avoid giving any different name to shopping cart. There is a human tendency to be something different from others. This is good, but not in business and especially not in online business as it might mislead the customer. Customers might get confused or might also feel disgusted, as they would think it to be your trick for selling products.
  3. Avoid prior registrations to add items in the shopping cart. This might discourage many of the viewers of the site as they might feel it is time consuming and most certainly if they do not wish to buy, then it seems unnecessary wastage of energy and time. Mostly, the prospective buyers will also not wish to provide their personal details prior to the purchase of the products. And website url should be Search Engine Marketing friendly.
  4. Avoid disguising the real amount of the product. Make sure that all your products show the real purchasing prices including shipping and taxes when the buyer selects the product for buying.
  5. Avoid having difficult tasks on the software. You should keep the software that is easily accessible by the prospective buyer. It is very bugging to retype or re-select the product for buying the same thing in more quantity is simply bugging, keep it automated.

Hope this answers all your doubts regarding shopping cart development. There are various ecommerce shopping cart development companies which provides you with complete services for the shopping cart development and online portal development.

Let’s just look at some of the important factors that matter in terms of ranking for SEO in 2009.

Title tags- This is no new concept for the SEO’s. Title tags have always been a hot shot element for the on page optimization. It is essential that each page must have a specific and good title tag as the appearance of the crucial terms in the beginning will have a good impact.

Anchor text- This is basically the visible text of the link. The superseding factor for a search engine is possessing inbound links, however, not all links are equally made. It is essential that an SEO avoids using words like home, here, main and other such cliché words while as this are not useful.

Number of Domains Linking- the number of inbound links you have certainly important but it is also important to have the links from unique domains. Suppose you have more number of inbound links than your competitor but yet the competitor can outrank you. After looking at the important factors that matter in SEO, Let us just discuss the not so important factors too for SEO in 2009.

H1 Tags - there was a time when the search engine crawlers use to give importance to the H1 and H2 tags of the HTML page. This was because the H1 tag use to make the crawlers feel that the content is important as it is bulky. However, the advent of several other factors has led the H1 tags to be quite irrelevant for 2009.

Keyword Density - the density of the keywords does not matter much now for achieving the ranks. If you have your keyword phrase in your anchor text and then it is sufficient. There is no need to have the keywords spread all over your content as it will in fact, make your site look much ugly and self boasting.

W3C validation - the only essential thing for any website page is that it should look as webpage. If it does then there is no need to worry about the W3C validation as IT has never been a matter of concern.

Hope this helps you to make better choice when selecting an SEO company. At the same time, the article will also render good insights into the factors affecting ranks to the SEO’s as well.
